While South Africa observes Human Rights Day, 21 March is also World Down Syndrome Day. At Mitchells Plain in Cape Town, a determined mother and daughter duo started a foundation four years ago. This is to break the stigma around Down Syndrome and to give young adults, leaving school a sense of purpose, skills and hope. The Shumeez Scott Foundation wants to expand its reach from its humble beginnings to reach and educate as many people as possible.
