North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has been at the centre of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system.

Mogotsi is alleged to be the middleman between police minister Senzo Mchunu, who is on special leave, and attempted murder-accused, Vusimusi ''Cat'' Matlala, and also a link in the criminal infiltration of law enforcement.

These allegations were first made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in July 2025.

Mkhwanazi has since testified about Mogotsi's alleged involvement in obstructing justice - whilst Mogotsi defended himself, saying he is a government agent.

SABC News reporter Lebogang Pebe and video journalist Tumelo Setlhabetsi compiled this report.
