Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko says the issue of teenage mothers remains a concern.
This as a 16-year-old teenager is among the seven mothers who welcomed babies born on Christmas at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional hospital on Gauteng's Eastrand.
In 2024 Gauteng recorded 184 Christmas babies - the highest in the country.
Nkomo-Ralehoko presented each mother with gift hampers, symbolising support for their new beginnings.
