Amnesty International says Somali authorities and the international community have repeatedly failed to protect thousands of people from drought-affected communities in southern Somalia.

The rights group says this exposes the displaced to violations of their rights to food, water, family, health and life.

It adds that despite this growing health crisis, Somalia has failed to fulfil its human rights obligation to guarantee the rights of drought-affected individuals by not increasing its allocation to the health budget.

For more on this we are now joined by David Ngira, Regional Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Researcher at Amnesty International.
