Economists caution that consumers are likely to feel the effects of US tariffs on food and household goods this festive season.

2025 came with geopolitical dynamics that led to the 30% tariffs imposed on most South African goods entering the US.

The tariffs have impacted agriculture, mining and manufacturing sectors that rely heavily on US market access leading to job losses, reduced competitiveness and higher consumer prices.
