Dr Malusi Gigaba will not be appearing before court: IDAC

The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) says they are engaging with Dr Malusi Gigaba and he will not be appearing in court on Friday, adding there will be no further comment on the matter.

This morning Gigaba appeared at the the IDAC offices in response to what he said was a summons from the National Prosecuting Authority to do so.

The NPA had summoned Gigaba to appear this morning and he duly complied appearing at the IDAC offices where the charges we introduced.

The charges allegedly relate to the procurement of locomotives and other procurement activities at Transnet during his time as Minister of Public Enterprises.

This morning before his appearance, he released a statement in his personal capacity stating that he had a non-executive role in the Transnet procurement process and that as a law abiding citizen, he would cooperate fully.

Gigaba is currently a member of parliament serving as co-chair of the Joint standing Committee on Defence.
