The pain of observing fellow Africans achieving and commemorating Reconciliation cuts deep for 24-year-old Andrea Bokoro from the war-torn eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Not only did the war separate him from his loved ones, it also killed his dream to become a medical practitioner. As he observed South Africa marking Reconciliation Month and urging more unity, he recalled the bloodshed in his country, and how his countrymen continue to endure the rattling of guns, the displacement of millions and many other calamities that have befallen his land of birth.
