Gauteng Traffic Police have warned motorists to expect heavy traffic on major routes in and around Johannesburg, as holiday travel begins to peak ahead of the festive season.
Gauteng Traffic Police Spokesperson Sello Maremane says traffic volumes on the N1 have already started to increase, with more motorists making their way into the city.
Maremane has urged drivers to exercise caution, obey traffic laws and remain patient on the roads.
He added that law enforcement officers have been deployed at various strategic points to monitor traffic flow and ensure the safety of all road users.
