After welcoming in the New Year, tragedy struck a family of eight in Dithakong village outside Mahikeng in the North West when their home caught fire and was completely destroyed. One family member, a partially disabled woman who was unable to escape, died in the fire.
The rest of the family managed to get out safely, only sustaining a few cuts and bruises, and left with emotional scars.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
