Five men suspected of committing serious crimes were killed during a shootout with police in Inanda, Durban.

Police say members of the Provincial Tracing Team were searching for suspected criminals when the shooting occurred.

They say the suspects were wanted in connection with various serious crimes including murder, house robberies and attempted murder of police officers.
