Severe flooding continues to have a devastating impact in South Sudan. Throughout the Twic East area, where Tearfund has a field base, the flooding is the worst in living memory. Our main nutrition centre, which is a lifeline for many vulnerable people suffering from malnutrition, is now under water.
We have managed to open a temporary feeding centre and are providing emergency toilets for the thousands of people who have been forced to leave their homes and live in temporary camps.
The main dyke which helps to regulate the water levels in the area is bursting. The local community is trying to repair it by hand with bags filled with mud. But it continues to burst.
Please pray for families who have been forced to leave their homes and are now struggling to survive in temporary camps. Pray they can access food and clean water. And pray that the dyke won’t burst its banks anymore, which makes the flooding even worse.
