GBV activists say inaction, delays, and a lack of communication and commitment in the administration of justice in Gender-Based Violence cases, exarcerbate the suffering of survivors.
At a recent anti-GBV march in Mogwase near Rustenburg in North West, a woman detailed how the alleged statutory rape of her daughter, was never subjected to the court processes, leaving them with more pain.
She accused government of failing her then 13-year-old daughter, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 21-year-old man in January last year. The National Prosecuting Authority declined to prosecute.
