Economic activity in South Africa decelerated in the third quarter. Stats SA data shows that GDP rose by 0.5% in the third quarter compared to the 0.9% recorded in the second quarter.

Trade, mining, and government sectors were among the primary drivers of growth.

There was significant contraction in the electricity, gas, and water supply sectors.
