Nutritional security and income generation opportunities for rural communities are receiving further boost following a successful pilot project in the training of small holder farmers on how to breed palm weevil larvae, popularly called Akokono, in Akan, for consumption. The demand for the meat at the local and international market has attracted many farmers into the business.
