Gold has risen to over $4 500 per ounce today, rising by 6%.

Monday morning, markets opened with gold trading at $4 509 an ounce.

Last week, at the close of the markets on Christmas eve, gold was trading at $4 486.

Makwe Masilela from Makwe Fund Managers says gold has risen significantly this year driven by geopolitical uncertainty, expected interest rate cuts in the U.S and ongoing de-dollarisation.
