Social Development Department and the National Association of School Governing Bodies (NASSGB) are concerned about the negative impact of the matriculants 'pens down' celebrations.

The parties take place when matrics are finished writing their final examination.

There are concerns that these celebrations come with incidents of substance abuse, reckless driving and alcohol poisoning.

The Department's Anti-Substance Abuse programme's Mogotsi Kalaeamodimo and the NASSGB General-Secretary Matakanye Matakanya speak to SABC News.
