Human trafficking into South Africa has raised alarm bells in recent months, with police rescuing several foreign nationals from their alleged captors or smugglers on several occasions. In the latest incident, twelve Ethiopian men aged between 20 and 30 were found semi-naked, running through the streets of Mulbarton, south of Johannesburg, last week. A 47-year-old Ethiopian national was later arrested and charged with kidnapping. In a separate incident earlier this week, the Border Management Authority intercepted more than 20 minors near the Limpopo River, in the vicinity of the Beitbridge border post.
