ICC finds Ugandan LRA commander guilty of war crimes

Published
Ugandan child soldier-turned-rebel commander Dominic Ongwen has been found guilty of 61 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Despite being a victim himself, the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands ruled he was still fully responsible for his crimes.

The maximum sentence Ongwen is facing is 30 years in prison. Only in cases of genocide can the ICC impose a life sentence. It will take months before Ongwen knows what the sentence will be.
