Inside Zimbabwe's First State Run Rehab Centre

A look inside the Chipadze Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre in Bindura, one of Zimbabwe’s first government-run stand-alone drug rehab facilities. Opened in July 2023, Chipadze offers a three-month, all-of-government programme - medical detox, counseling, skills training, and community reintegration - for people recovering from alcohol, cannabis and crystal meth dependence. Since opening, the centre has admitted over 140 patients with a completion rate approaching 80%. Hear staff explain their multi-sectoral approach and families and patients share personal stories of recovery, hope, and returning to community life.
