Social media seems to be increasingly used to crack down on crime and trace alleged criminals via videos of what seems to be offenses and perpetrators.

Some of these have lead to arrests and confessions.

Just recently an alleged phone snatcher was arrested in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

Other trending videos are those of the robbery of an elderly man on a street in Bloemfontein and also of the assault of a security guard in East London.
