The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya, Acting Stephanie Williams, addressed a message to the Libyan leaders and the Libyan people, calling on them not to allow "those who insist and fight with all means to keep the status quo, to mislead you with false news and campaigns and to steal from you this opportunity."

This declaration came during an exclusive interview with UN News, in which she touched on the recent ceasefire agreement, the launch of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), the upcoming elections, the role of women, the question of oil and foreign interference, among other things. Ms. Williams payed tribute to the participants in these negotiations and acknowledged their sense of responsibility towards their country by saying: “What you have accomplished here takes a great deal of courage. You have come together for the sake of Libya, for the sake of your people, to take tangible steps and end their suffering.”
