The Madlanga Commission wrapped up the evidence of suspended Acting EMPD Chief, Commissioner Julius Mkhwanazi with an admission that he received payments from alleged cartel member, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala. As well as reintroduced Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who was armed with a legislative framework and statistics, in a bid to prove the rationale and power behind his 31 December 2024 decision to disband the Political Killings Task Team. Mchunu, who is on a leave of absence, is facing allegations that he disbanded the PKTT in order to shield criminal syndicates.
