The Northern Cape has set a target of again becoming the top performing province with the matric class of 2026. The class of 2025 achieved a pass rate of 87.79%, the most improved performance in the country. Just five years ago, the Northern Cape had a pass rate of 66%, languishing in last place among the provinces.
