Former South African President Thabo Mbeki has stressed that the country cannot avoid hosting the national dialogue.

He says South Africa is facing a number of challenges.
Mbeki spoke at the UNISA's Chancellor Calabash Awards in Sandton, north of Johannesburg last night.

The awards have been bestowed to a number of exceptional individuals such as the late former Namibian President Sam Nujoma, artist Yvonne Chaka Chaka, businessman Paul Peter Ngwenya and veteran lawyer Christine Qunta.
