Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, has slammed claims that South Africa is a mafia state. This follows the brutal death of Marius Van der Merwe, also known as Witness D, at the Madlanga commission.

He was killed last Friday evening outside his home in Brakpan, on the East Rand. Ntshavhneni says while the witness protection service has some challenges, efforts are being put in place to improve it.
