The North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, has praised the province's festive season traffic operations, saying they have performed better than last year. Morweng says in December 2024, the province recorded 70 road fatalities, compared to 60 this year, reflecting a notable reduction. However, the MEC has expressed concern about the ongoing issue of bribery involving traffic officials, particularly in Mahikeng. He says 21 people have already been arrested for attempting to bribe law enforcement officers.
