Published
Tuesday Namibia marked 27 years of independence. The main celebrations took place in Rundu, around 7 hundred kilometres from the capital, Windhoek. President Hage Geingob addressed the crowds. He said Namibia still faces challenges stemming from socio-economic structures and enduring poverty. He added that his government will continue with its relief plans to address those inequalities. He's announced an increase in social pension allowances. Namibia gained independence from South Africa in 1990.
