The search for the next National Director of Public Prosecutions, ahead of Advocate Shamila Batohi's departure next month, continues. The Advisory Panel, sitting on its second day of interviews in Pretoria, is interviewing Advocate Xolisile Khanyile, who started by taking the panel through her legal background.
She revealed that she served in all levels of the court system, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the entire prosecutorial process.
Khanyile has practical experience in civil law through her work as a practitioner in the Asset Recovery Unit. This, she says, is a critical area, as the Asset Forfeiture Unit plays a central role in recovering the proceeds of crime, especially in large-scale corruption cases. She also represented South Africa in the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group and took a project on prioritising asset recovery.
