New Policies To Boost Local Production, Export Regulations

Zimbabwe's government says it will be introducing more policies to empower local producers.The trade and commerce industry is planning to building on the success of its Statutory Instrument 64. That helped local producers increase exports and saw the removal of 43 imported products from the shelves. A 2016 survey shows an increase in capacity utilisation from 34.3 percent in 2015 to 47.4 percent. Zimbabwe's government now plans to amend at least 16 export regulations to improve ease of doing business. The project is expected to address the issues of high costs of production, complex and burden-some procedures, limited access to affordable long term trade finance and centralization of agencies in major cities.
