Nigeria Corruption Crackdown: Former National Security Advisor Charged

Nigeri'as former National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuku has been charged with illegally possessing weapons and committing acts posing a potential threat to national security. President Muhammadu Buhari has been cracking down on corrupt officials. He's also ordered an investigation into the purchase of arms under his two predecessors. The president has been trying to root out corruption in the country- and is now looking to the military. Buhari needs to do this in order to more effectively end the threat of Boko Haram militants. Nigeria wil set up a panel to look into defence procurement spanning the last eight years. The panel of 13 members will consist of retired military officers and an executive from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Two decades ago Nigeria's army was considered one of the strongest on the continent. It now struggles with funding, training, and equipment.
