The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says it's ready to welcome visitors and residents at New Brighton Beach.

That's despite the lack of ablution facilities and challenges with vandalism.

The municipality says the beach is accessible and ready to be used, as it's been approved for recreational use.

The New Brighton Beach is the largest unspoilt beach, located just before Bluewater Bay.

It made negative headlines after untreated sewage containing high levels of E.coli spilt onto the beach.
