One Animal Dies In Cape Town As African Horse Sickness Threatens

An outbreak of horse sickness has emerged in Cape Town, South Africa, with one death recorded, so far. The virus is feared around the world because it’s one of the few equine diseases that kill horses quickly. If not contained fast, this outbreak will adversely affect the Western Cape's multimillion dollar horse export industry, since the region is a major supplier of animals to markets such as the European Union.
