Probe into 17 SA citizens trapped in Ukraine

SABC News has reliably learnt that a South African was involved in recruiting 17 South Africans to fight in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The South African government has ordered a probe into the circumstances that led to the recruitment of 17 South African men in Ukraine.

The men are trapped in the war-torn Donbas region and want to be assisted.
Sixteen are believed to be from KwaZulu-Natal and one from the Eastern Cape.
