The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment says its warning against the consumption of washed out shellfish at St Helena Bay and Elandsbaai in the West Coast in the Western Cape still remains.
A couple of days ago, the department issued a warning to the public not to consume all shellfish irrespective of being washed out, or collected from shore or subtidal.
Saying eating washed out marine animals carry significant health risks, and renders them unsuitable for consumption.
