President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on all South Africans to remind themselves of the principles on which South Africa's democracy were built: reconciliation and unity.

The National Day of Reconciliation event was held in Kwazulu-Natal at the Ncome Museum in Nquthu.

It is also the site of the battle of Blood River where on the 16th of December 1838, Voortrekkers defeated the amaZulu forces.
