The President of Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have signed a peace deal in Washington witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump. This follows an initial agreement reached between the parties in June. The signing in the U.S. capital in the presence of a number of African leaders marks a key moment in efforts to bring peace to the troubled eastern Congo where fierce fighting continues to rage between Congolese armed forces and the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels.
