* The motion of no confidence in KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has failed - Chaos broke out in the KZN legislature after the Speaker ruled that there would be no secret ballot. The situtation deteriorated further when she announced that the motion had failed.

* The ANC Youth League' s 27th national conference is underway at the University of Limpopo - the League says it is anticipating a successful conference where its top six candidates will be elected unopposed.

* Australia's Prime Minister has vowed to push for stronger gun controls - this as the country comes to terms with the death of 15 people who were gunned down while celebrating the first day of Hanukkah at Sydney's Bondi Beach.

* South Africa are the netball champions of the continent yet again. The Proteas women and men successfully defended their titles at the Africa Netball Cup in Lilongwe, Malawi at the weekend.
