* Emergency personnel are on standby to work through the night to extinguish fires that may develop in the Eastern and Western Cape. Fire fighters have managed to contain a fire between Kromme River and Paradise Beach within the Kouga Local Municipaly in the Eastern Cape. While Western Cape emergency personnel are on high alert as hot, windy weather continues to be threat for flare-ups.

* ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says despite its challenges, the ANC remains a special organisation in South Africa.
He was speaking at the grave of the late ANC Treasurer General and SACP General Secretary Moses Kotane, in Pella outside Rustenburg in the North West.
This as part of the ANC's mobilisation programme, ahead of its birthday celebrations this weekend.

* With just a few days to go before the release of the 2025 National Senior Certificate results, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group - SADAG - has urged matric pupils to seek mental health support if they feel overwhelmed. SADAG has also urged parents and guardians to ease pressure on learners.

* Some United States-based experts believe the US' decision to withdraw from 66 multilateral organisations should be viewed as adding credence to Washington's "my way or the highway" approach to international cooperation. US president Donald Trump yesterday announced the withdrawal, citing that the identified entities operate contrary to the US's national interests. 31 UN entities are affected with over 30 non-UN entities also not spared.
