Senegal seeks redemption in tough World Cup group

Senegal heads into the World Cup carrying both high expectations and a sense of unfinished business after being retrospectively stripped of an Africa Cup of Nations title. The Lions of Teranga face a challenging Group featuring France, Norway and Iraq, as they look to reassert themselves on the global stage. Morocco, Africa’s highest-ranked side, also carry momentum following their historic run to the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup, the first African team to reach the last four. Across the continent, there is growing belief that African football is moving beyond participation towards genuine contention.
