Separatists and opposition boycott Cameroon regional elections

Published
Voters in the English-speaking northwest and southwest areas of Cameroon are casting ballots in regional polls on Sunday.
But the opposition believes this is President Paul Biya's way of consolidating power as he aims to give people in those regions more say.
Cameroon's English-speaking groups have been pushing for autonomy from the central French-speaking central government since 2016 and thousands have died in the fighting.

Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports.
