Several detained in anti-government demonstrations in Zimbabwe

Police have detained several protesters in Zimbabwe following anti-government demonstrations. The protests had been called for against a backdrop of a worsening economic situation characterized by rising inflation, which is now at its highest level in 10 years. But the government claims there is an attempt, backed by some foreign nations, to unseat it, blaming illegal sanctions and economic saboteurs for scuttling efforts to repair the economy.
