Africa's largest new mining and infrastructure project, the Simandou iron ore mine project, has begun operations. The massive project in Guinea is expected to produce up to 120 million tonnes of iron ore a year - and with the first shipload expected to be dispatched to China within weeks, it could shake up the global iron ore market.
