Somalia's prime minister has rejected a proposed extension of the president's term.
Tensions have been rising since President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohamed, better known as Farmaajo, failed to hold scheduled elections, then extended his term in office by two years.
Leaders of four of five regional states in Somalia, opposition presidential candidates and the country’s main international donors have opposed any extension to the presidential term.
Somalis are now fleeing their homes in the capital, Mogadishu, fearing renewed clashes between rival factions within the security forces.
Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi reports.
