Border security is a critical component of national safety, aimed at regulating the movement of people and goods while preventing illegal activities such as human trafficking and smuggling.

In the most revent indicent, Border Management Authority officials intercepted two groups of foreign nationals at OR Tambo International Airport in what the agency believes were attempts linked to human trafficking, irregular migration, and visa fraud.

These interceptions, carried out as part of heightened festive season security operations, underscore the continuing need for vigilance and robust measures at the nation's borders.

For a discussion on border security, we are joined by Willem Els, the Senior Training Coordinator of the ENACT Programme from the Institute for Security Studies.
