The City of Johannesburg has begun demolishing the collapsed double-storey building in Doornkop, Soweto, which claimed the lives of three people from the Xaba family, including a one-year-old toddler. Authorities say the Xaba family occupied the area illegally as it was unfit for human settlement. MMC for Finance Loyiso Masuku says the City must take a firm stance and educate residents about housing regulations.
