The Tanzanian government says it is recording improvements in its response to HIV/AIDS, as new data shows that about 1.7 million people in the country are now living with the virus. Authorities say they have strengthened HIV/AIDS services nationwide, expanding the number of facilities offering treatment and ensuring free access to ARV's, even as global funding for HIV programmes continues to decline.
