Published
Food aid has started arriving in parts of South Sudan affected by famine. The World Food Programme is delivering urgent assistance to tens of thousands of people in Leer County. The teams have been on the ground in three different locations affected by famine. In one region, 36,000 people had been in hiding on nearby islands. They've received food, medical care and nutritional treatment. Aid agencies say more than 40 percent of South Sudan's population is in need of urgent assistance.
