The Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape remains on high alert, as raging veld fires have not been containted.

The fires, which started earlier this week, have forced the closure of some parts of the N2 between Gqeberha and Jeffrey's Bay.

Strong winds and limited water resources have made it difficult to contain the fires.

Despite the deployment of a water bomber plane from the Western Cape, there are still fires raging in areas including Kabeljous and the N2.
