Zambia elections: Debt crisis, unemployment main voter concerns

Zambia has more than $12bn in external debt and an unknown amount of debt to China.
Last year, it became the first African state to default on its debt during the COVID pandemic.
Candidates in upcoming presidential elections are all trying to convince voters they have what it takes to turn the economy around.
But some economists warn against adding to Zambia’s debt load.
