Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, says 30% is not the Matric pass mark in that it discourages pupils that are differently talented. Announcing the National Senior Certificate results in Johannesburg, Gwarube has called on political leaders to refrain from popularism. She says slogans and percentages won't improve learner outcomes. Gwarube also says it's very important for people no to pressure their children to go to university as skills are different.
